October/November Paste Magazine CD

The October/November Paste magazine cover is devoted to Cameron Crowe's Road to Elizabethtown. Illustrations of Orlando Bloom, Kirsten Dunst, and Cameron Crowe are included, all by Joni Mitchell. The magazine includes a lengthy feature about the making of Elizabethtown, as well as a sidebar called "Cameron Crowe's 10 Essential Films for a Stormy Night" (I'll give you half the list, without his reasons: #1 Local Hero, #3 The Apartment, #5 Richard Pryor Live In Concert, #7 Hannah and Her Sisters, and #9 Shampoo). Also in this issue: interviews with Big Star, My Morning Jacket, Sigur Ros, and Paul McCartney, an article about special effects in movies, and another imagining putting together a "fantasy band" with the ideal production team, sampling, drums, lyrics, melodies, harmony vocals, etc. Plus reviews and all that good stuff.

Paste subscribers get a DVD with every issue, as well as the CD that everyone gets. On this issue's DVD, there are eight short films ("the best from HypeFest 2005), music videos by The Deathray Davies (love them), the Pixies, the Flaming Lips, Kathleen Edwards, Orenda Fink, OK Go, Supergrass, New Order, Elbow, and Mike Doughty, among others. There are also assorted clips and trailers, like ones for Elizabethtown, Serenity (sigh, more on my feelings about that flick later), and Undeclared (I loved Undeclared!). Lastly, there are tons of video game commercials, I mean "previews".
