Shockwaves NME Award Nominations

It's a five-way tie for "most Shockwaves NME Award nominations" this year. Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, The Killers, Muse, and My Chemical Romance have four nominations apiece.

All the groups were nominated for Best Album. My Chemical Romance was also nominated for Worst Album, but apparently that doesn't count when it comes to tallying up nominations. If it did, My Chemical Romance would have five. If the Worst Album nom. deducted one from their total, they'd have three... hmm...

Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Muse, and My Chemical Romance were nominated for Best Live Band (along with Babyshambles).

Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, and Muse were also nominated for Best UK Band (along with Babyshambles and Oasis).

The Killers and My Chemical Romance were nominated for Best International Band. (The other nominees: CSS, The Strokes, and We Are Scientists.)

Arctic Monkeys and My Chemical Romance also received nominations for Best Music DVD (for Scummy Man and Life On The Murder Scene)

Kasabian and The Killers picked up nominations for Best Video (for "Empire" and "Bones"). None of the other big five were nominated, but it's tough when you're competing with the likes of OK Go and their damn treadmills.

Two of the five bands also received a nod in the Best Track category: Muse (for "Supermassive Black Hole") and The Killers (for "When You Were Young").

The Shockwaves NME Awards will be given March 1 at the Hammersmith Palais in London. Registered members of NME's website can vote online and help decide whether The Kooks are the Worst Band, the Best New Band, both, or neither.
